ABOUT THE PIECE:
ALL traditional. PrismaColor colored pencils and some acrylic paint on black paper.
No reference used. :)
I'm bidding on this girl. I hope I win. I saw her and was like "meh I bet she has a ton of bids.. I don't have the time." Then I looked... No ONE! I was like ....... O.O she must be mine. She'll be the last to join the herd here if I do win her. I love that she inspired this!

Registered/Show Name: Perpetual Innocence
Nicknames:Penny
Gender: Mare
Breed: Royal West Warmblood
Color: Grullo Tobiano
Genes: EE aa nD nT
Height: 172cm (17hh)
Age: 3 Years
Discipline: Three Day Eventing
Personality: Penny is a sweet heart. She's a lover by nature but isn't afraid to let a few hooves fly if she needs to. This girl has determination and power. If she sets her mind to do something, she will stubbornly try, try, try until she gets it done and done right. Be careful. Being a high strung mare, she can be rather bull headed, but treat her with a rough hand and she'll make sure you end up in the dirt. Penny DEMANDS respect from her riders and other horses. She doesn't care to be in charge, but she doesn't like to be pushed around or mistreated.
Penny is also a very jealous girl. If she is not taken out regularly to strut her stuff and show off her big ego, she gets pouty and rather pissy. DO NOT leave her to sit around in a stall or pasture for more than a couple days. And if you're taking other horses out, expect a nip on the butt for not giving her the attention she obviously deserves.
Over all Penny has the drive to be a fantastic eventing horse and will always strive for excellence.

Behind the name: It seems we consider innocence to be a state of ignorance, held at no fault of our own, in which we are not acting out a power-play, or negotiating within the bounds of a power struggle; but acting out of a clean regard. We consider innocence to be an immature quality, but one we look back on with fond nostalgia.

“Do you give the horse her strength or clothe her neck with a flowing mane? Do you make her leap like a locust, striking terror with her proud snorting? She paws fiercely, rejoicing in her strength, and charges into the fray. She laughs at fear, afraid of nothing; she does not shy away from the sword. The quiver rattles against her side, along with the flashing spear and lance. In frenzied excitement she eats up the ground; she cannot stand still when the trumpet sounds.” – God as quoted in the book of Job, Chapter 39 verses 19-24

I edited it to a girl horse. Lol

"Ok I want you to take her around the course at a steady pace. Don't let her bolt from the jump but let her move freely. Lets see what this girl can give us." Mairabel stood on the ground next to Penny, looking up at Zane, her best friend, in the saddle. Mairabel trusted Zane more than anyone in the world and if she were honest with herself, she was in love with him. But she didn't want to ruin their friendship.
Zane smiled "I got this. Take this beauty and let her stride out. I'll be back in a jiffy. Come on Penny, move on." Zane kicked Penny to a walk, then a trot and took her into the warm up ring for a few practice jumps. She rocked back and launched herself over the small oxers and cross-rails with ease. Her long legs lifted and curled with natural grace.
Once Zane was sure Penny's muscles were warm and ready, he took her out into the wide open pasture lands with trees and grass for miles. In the distance he could see some of the jumps, knowing more laid within the trees. Mairabel walked out to where she could watch them to see how Penny did. Penny was a prospect Mairabel was looking into adopting. The stable really needed some royalty and a die hard eventer. Mairabel really hoped Penny could bring some ribbons home.
Zane stood Penny in the starting box to see how she would react with the pressure. She stood obediently, patiently but eagerly waiting for her que to move off. Her tail was set high and her large nostrils flared just a bit. Excitement danced in her expressive eyes and as soon as she felt Zane squeeze into her ribs and him make a clicking noise she roared to life.
Penny's hooves struck the ground hard, digging into the dirt and grass and covering ground with fluid motion. It wasn't long till she came upon the first jump, a large log decorated in flowers and vines. She snorted and set her strides right for the launch. Zane sat up and let her body round beneath him as she took the jump with double it's height. He leaned forward over her, pushing his hands up her neck to give her her head. She landed on the other side with a heavy but graceful stride and galloped off for the next obstacle.
They took twos and threes in a row. Up some steep hills and down drop offs, over ditch jumps and finally, Zane's favorite. The water jump.
He positioned Penny to head straight at the log jump in front of the pond. She would have to jump high over it but there was also a steep drop into the water on the other side. Zane wasn't sure how she would react to the water but he could tell there was no stopping this girl now.
Penny plowed on, ears pricked straight for her next jump. She fervently lengthened her strides to get to the jump faster. Zane held her back just a bit, worried she might hurt herself if she spooked coming down the jump. But Penny's determination didn't waver. She picked up her legs and glided over the log like a kite in the sky. She saw the water on the other side enthusiastically stretched her legs to meet it. Penny touched down and sent a huge splash up into Zane's face. She let out a happy whinny as the cool liquid washed some of her sweat off. Zane laughed at her free spirited way and then kicked her on to completed the coarse. They finished up the last jump and Zane proudly patted her on the neck to show her she had done it well. He took her to Mairabel who was jumping up and down with excitement.
"That was AMAZING Zane!!!!"
"Haha Mairabel...?"
"WHAT!!?" She said with a huge smile on her face.
"I think she's the one!"
And with that Penny gave a snort and pushed her head into Mairabel for a good, well deserved scratching.
